The Elephant Man was a very intriguing film. It had a very
peculiar feel to it that sort of kept me on the edge of my seat. It has an
eerie sense that was ultimately dark and obscure. The Elephant Man is hard to understand;
in fact you might not understand it the first time watching it through. I know
I didn’t. David Lynch did an incredible job with this movie. The villains are
very easy to hate which I feel takes a lot of work and skill to fully show. It
also gives a great sense of sympathy for John Merrick (the main character). You
as the viewer are not so disgusted by him but instead you feel sorry for him.
The make up crew did an excellent job as well. The movie really just envelops
you into a certain perspective that is oddly relatable between most people. But
the confusion of the plot and certain scenes sort of make the movie just a bit
too obscure to really understand. I give a 7.5 out of 10.
